The Snyder Foundation and the Girl Scouts of Central
Maryland (GSCM) are partners in an initiative that promotes the
goals of the USPS Spay/Neuter Stamp campaign:
- To eradicate the problem of unwanted, homeless animals
- To raise public awareness of pet overpopulation
The Spay/Neuter Patch Packet Program is a year-long initiative
in which participating Girl Scouts will complete a variety of required
projects. Upon completion, the girls earn a spay/neuter lapel pin
and a ribbon with the American Partnership for Pets call to
action: "Too many animals — Too few homes. Spay and neuter."
Spay/Neuter Patch Packet Program activities are age-appropriate,
from Brownies through Seniors, and include service projects for
local animal shelters. Pen Pal exchanges are encouraged. As a tribute
to Juliette Gordon Low, the hearing-impaired founder of the Girl
Scouts, one program component covers service and assistance animals.
Girl Scouts interested in participating in the Spay/Neuter Patch
Packet Program should register through the Program Department of
