ethic - a respect for all life, both animal and human - The Snyder
Foundations Grants and Awards Program recognizes and supports
organizations that have demonstrated a sustained commitment to promoting
the welfare of animals. During the past 13 years, the Foundation
has awarded over $2,000,000 to 80 Maryland humane organizations
in 21 counties as well as in Baltimore City. Awards are made on
an annual basis; all funding requests are subject to competitive
review.
Awards have funded projects as diverse as:
- Low-cost spay/neuter programs for pets of low-income families
- A program to subsidize pet ownership by senior citizens
- Wildlife support and rehabilitation
- Medical treatment for shelter animals
- Statewide training for animal protection professionals
AREAS OF INTEREST: Spay/neuter programs; pet overpopulation;
adoption of shelter animals; responsible pet ownership; rescue of
abused animals; medical treatment for shelter animals; wildlife
support and rehabilitation; humane and environmental education;
other like projects designed to promote the welfare of animals.
ELIGIBILITY: Giving is limited to Maryland-based organizations.
Maximum award is $10,000. Only organizations that are classified
as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code
are eligible. State, county, and municipal organizations may also
be eligible to apply. Individuals are ineligible for consideration.
No funding will be granted for personnel positions, general operations,
capital campaigns, or other fund raising events.
APPLICATION PROCEDURES: BY INVITATION
- Submission of a preliminary application in the required format
by organizations meeting eligibility requirements stated above.
- Submission of a full project proposal in the required format
along with supporting documentation and financial information.
TIMETABLE: Awards to be made by April 30, 2006.
