DISASTER PREPAREDNESS

Disasters catch us off guard. The unpredictable nature of any disaster spells trouble for us and possible catastrophe for our pets if we have not planned ahead for their protection. Hurricanes, floods, snowstorms, tornados, and fires can all occur in Maryland.

Getting Started On Your Pet Safety Plan:

Locate a safe place for your pet before disaster strikes. Remember, evacuation shelters do not accept animals.

Assemble emergency supplies for your pet:
  • Portable carrier
  • Food and water bowls
  • Supply of pet food and water in bottles
  • Litter and litter box for cats
  • Medications
  • First aid kit
  • Health records, including vaccination records
  • Leashes

Keep up-to-date identification on your pet at all times.

Keep current color photos of your pet with your pet's emergency supplies.

We invite you to contact us if you would like a presentation for your community regarding disaster awareness.
